If you want to send an email to anyone using LeadBI, you must first obtain their clear permission to do so.
This can usually be done with the following means:
- A “subscribe to our newsletter” form, on your website;
- An opt-in checkbox which the person willingly selects to indicate they want to hear from you. Checkboxes must not be checked by default or they won’t apply.
- If you got the contact using offline means (like a competition, or an offline form) you can only send if you explained to them that you would be contacting them by email, AND if they ticked a box indicating they would like you to contact them.
- Customers whose last purchase was less than 2 years ago.
- If you got a business card from someone, you can contact them only if you explicitly asked for permission to add them to your list. If you got the buisiness card via some competition, there must have been a sign indicating they will be contacted by email about that specific topic.
In short, you can email someone only if he/she clearly gave you the permission to receive your emails about the exact subject you’re contacting them about.
Which email addresses ARE NOT OK to send to?
Here you can find a (non comprehensive) list of examples of emails you’re NOT allowed to send to. Keep in mind that any email outside these examples does not become automatically OK to receive email.
You can’t import or send emails to email addresses which:
- You do not have explicit, provable permission (opt-in) to contact, in relation to the topic of the email you’re sending.
- You rented, bought or loaned in any way, or acquired from a third party. You need to obtain permission yourself, no matter what the third-party claims.
- Didn’t receive communications from you in the last 2 years. Emails get changed, people change their mind and/or forget about giving you permission to contact them, leading to a lot of complains and spam reports.
- You copied and pasted from the web, or scraped via automatic or manual tools. Just because you see and email address on a website, doesn’t mean that person wants to hear from you.
Some people might have given you their email address, but you are still required to have their permission to receive commercial messages.
Sending promotional emails to people who haven’t opted-in won’t be effective and will more than likely see your email marked as spam by many of your recipients.
LeadBI inserts its Unsubscribe links by default
LeadBI includes, on every single email sent, an unsubscribe link which will instantly remove the subscriber from your list. Once a recipient has unsubscribed, you will not be able to email them again.
LeadBI constantly monitors anti-spam policy compliance
LeadBI has numerous layers of monitoring to ensure you comply with our anti-spam policy. A few of them include:
- Our software is directly integrated into the spam reporting systems for the biggest ISP’s like (Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail). If your complaint rate is greater than our internal treshold, you will receive a warning email requesting an explanation and giving you advice. If your complaint rate satys hight or keeps on getting higher, your account will be locked or terminated.
- Blacklists and abuse accounts are constantly monitored by our team. This way, LeadBI can pinpoint the cause of delivery problems and act accordingly.
At LeadBI, we take permission very seriously. Your account will be terminated immediately should we discover you are sending unsolicited emails. By creating an account and agreeing to our Terms and conditions, you also agree to this anti-spam policy.
